Highlights

Taste

Kaštelir and the neighbouring village of Labinci, are well known for its gastronomic delights, such as olive oil, honey, wine, potatoes, and other vegetables that are produced in local farms and vineyards. Our personal choice of olive oil and vine are Oliveri and Cossetto, but we invite you to visit the website of local tourism board of Kaštelir-Labinci for more information about local producers.

Together in – Friday Tasting. If you happen to be in Kaštelir during the hot months of July and August, we invite you to try local products first-hand through this unique experience. Local family farms are opening their door every Friday from 16:00-20:00h and offering their product at special prices. If you want to learn more about it, please visit Togetherin.hr website.

Culinary

If you want to have a taste of local craft beer and a bite of tasty homemade sandwiches, we suggest to visit Castellana, first Kaštelir brewery. It is just 8 minutes walk from our villa, in the heart of the village, offering very vibrant atmosphere in their backyard by the pool.

Another must-visit culinary stop in Kaštelir is a traditional Istrian restaurant Žardin, which offers stunning view over the Poreč and Adriatic sea. It is also very family friendly as it offers a small playground zone for the little ones. We recommend a fish platter and glass of local vine.

If you, however, fancy a casual night with pizza and a cold drink, we would recommend restaurant and pizzeria Toni, where Toni, friendly restaurant owner will make you feel very welcome and entertain you with the local tales.

Outdoor activities

Istria is well known for its picturesque hilltop villages (Buje, Motovun, Grožnjan), olive groves and vineyards, so there isn’t a better way then to visit all this beautiful sites by bike. You can chose hybrid, e-bike or a MTB, individual or guided tour. We recommend to visit a Bike Center Labinci, which is the vicinity of our villa. Their friendly stuff speaks English and German and are very keen to help with giving you the best advise on which route to chose. If you are more of a hiking person, we recommend to visit Istra trails website and look the trails that are mostly in the neighbouring village Vižinada.

Beach

There is many beautiful beaches around city of Poreč, but our personal choice and recommendation is island of Sv. Nikola, which is just 5 minutes boat ride from Poreč. It has wide range of sandy and pebble beaches, some of which are reserved for hotel guests only, but it is very family friendly and offers many attractions for kids, such as mini golf, fantasy forest, water sport park etc.
